Driving through the Iowa country side outside of Winterset...Squirrel Hunter and I came across this sign...someone had added the "R". We laughed so hard...we had to see the "Stoner Schoolhouse."
The School House was located in the middle of nowhere.
I don't know why but I heard my father's voice tell me about the hardships of growing up in the farm country of Grank Forks, North Dakota...how he had to walk 5 miles to school...barefoot...in the snow! It just tickled my funny bone to see this school in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure all of you have heard the same story growing up in the 50's and 60's.
Here is the Stone School with a water pump...
"Shoeless Joe Jackson: Is this heaven?
Ray Kinsella: No, it's Iowa"...Field of Dreams
Cheryl, Thoroughly enjoying my visit today to your blog! Loving your artists' eye with your photography!
I could so relate to this post! One year I gave my father a birthday card that read something along the lines of: Today is your birthday. The day you had to walk 10 miles through the snow, barefoot, just to be born!!!
