Between the late 70's through the mid 90's our family came to Chicago for a week usually during 4th of July...we enjoyed going to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubbies, seeing all the museums, zoos and going to Great America. My kids loved it. I had not been to Chicago in about 15 years. I was talking to a friend, who lives in Chicago and was telling him how I was excited to be going downtown to see the Art Institute for the first time. He told me, "Oh you'll see the Bean." "What!?!" I replied
I didn't even recognize the great lawn where we came for the 4th of July concerts. It has this large trellis network overhead that supports the sound system for the concerts and a signature stainless steel headdress for the bandshell. All so modernistic now.
