The Squirrel Hunter and I made a trip down to Nashville. SH had a pro-am to play and I got to explore the town. Our first night there we went out to dinner at Puckett's Grocery & Restaurant. I had read reviews that this was a great place to eat and listen to live music.
Fried Green Beans was their special appetizer...yeah, that’s right, fried green beans! Fresh green beans hand battered and fried golden so they’re hot and crisp. Served with a side of Chipotle Bacon Ranch. I loved them and almost ate the whole plate.
I was looking forward to the ribs...Puckett’s Cherry Smoked Baby Back Ribs
Dry rubbed “Memphis Style” low and slow smoked over cherry wood with baked beans and potato salad. Unfortunately, they were very disappointing. Dry and so unassuming...I have had much better at the Rendezvous in Memphis.
Too full to have dessert at Puckett's, we brought some back to the room. Chocolate Chess Pie, which apparently won the State Fair Blue Ribbon...I was unimpressed...nothing special just heavy chocolate. Homemade Berry Cobbler...also so unamazing. I like a good pie crust cobbler not one with a cake consistancy. The best thing about Puckett's is the live music and their fried green beans. Good place for appetizers but don't stay for dinner.
